The Horse Racing Tavern has teamed up with Ayr Racecourse to offer a pair of tickets to their Scottish Sun Raceday on 22nd June 2013!

Scottish Sun Raceday at Ayr Racecourse is one of the very best race days at Ayr throughout the year. Feature races are The Scottish Sun Handicap Stakes and The EBF Land O’ Burns Fillies Stakes and there are always large entries for all contests throughout the card!

The day is also a superb social occasion – a leading local band will play in the Horseshoe Bar after racing with a disco in the Ayrshire Suite to make sure everyone has a day to remember.

Best Dressed Ladies Competition

The Scottish Sun Raceday sees the launch of the 2013 Best Dressed Ladies Competition with the first prize – a Vauxhall Adam Jam 1.4 with an ‘Urban Pack’ ‘Intellinik Infotainment System’ in white with ‘I’ll be black roof’!

Jumps Action Returns to Ayr Racecourse

THE first jumps meeting of the 2012-2013 season at Ayr Racecourse is John Smith’s Raceday on Saturday November 3.

It’s the opening fixture of 10 meetings culminating in the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival at the track on Friday April 19 and Saturday April 20.

The November action features seven races featuring horses from some of the top stables in the north ridden by leading jockeys.

The final race is the Craigie ‘Newcomers’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at 4.20 pm. Gates open at 11.00 am.

Racing, Music & Glamour at Ayr Ladies Night

AYR Racecourse hosts one of the most popular nights of the year on Saturday when Champagne GH Mumm Ladies Night is staged.

The first of seven races, the Gas Sure & James Frew 101 Year Handicap, is due off at 5.35 pm and the feature race of the night is The Champagne GH Mumm Cuvee R. Lalou/E.B.F. Maiden Stakes at 6.35 pm.

A race in memory of Scottish jockey Jan Wilson tragically killed in a fire in Malton, North Yorkshire in 2009 – The JockeyJan.co.uk Jan Wilson Memorial Apprentice Handicap - will be run at 6.05 pm and the final race is the Champagne GH MummCordon Rouge Handicap at 8.35 pm.

After racing the chart topping band Scouting For Girls will play a full 75 minute concert on a stage adjacent to the paddock. Their set will include their hits “This Ain’t A Love Song”, “She’s So Lovely”, “Heartbeat” and “Elvis Ain’t Dead”.

In addition some best dressed ladies on the night will win a coin that guarantees them a place in the final of the ladies competition.

Star prize is a Vauxhall Astra GTC 1.4 16v 140 BHP Turbo Start Stop SRI courtesy of Kerr & Smith/Iveco Trucks. The second prize is a fabulous seven day P & O Cruise for 2 to Spain and Portugal from Stewart Travel while third place carries a prize of a classy piece of jewellery from Alex Cairncross of Perth.

Up to 27 ladies will win a coin and a place in the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Ladies Grand Final when each will draw a horse running in a designated race on Saturday September 22.

Scouting For Girls at Ayr Races Ticket Competition

We’ve teamed up with Ayr Racecourse to offer a pair of tickets up for grabs for Scouting For Girls on Saturday 11th August!

Platinum selling band Scouting For Girls will play Ayr Racecourse on Saturday August 11 – their only Scottish date of 2012 and their first north of the border in more than two years.

With several hit singles and two chart topping albums Scouting For Girls are recognised as one of the top live acts in the UK and their album is set for release later this year.  The band will play a full concert which will include their best known songs like “This Ain’t A Love Song”, “She’s So Lovely”, “Heartbeat” and “Elvis Ain’t Dead”.

SFG will take to an outside stage at the Racecourse following racing on Champagne GH Mumm Ladies Night and a spokesman for the band said : “We are delighted to repay our Scottish fans by playing this gig in Ayr – its been a long time since we’ve been in Scotland.

“We have a new album and singles coming out and are playing a few selected dates this year and we desperately wanted one to be in Scotland and we are so looking forward to it.”

Ayr Racecourse Sales and Marketing Manager Lindsey Smith added : “We have a history at Ayr Racecourse of attracting some sensational music acts and Scouting For Girls certainly carry on that tradition.

Pixie Lott at Ayr Races Ticket Competition!

Pixie Lott is playing live at Ayr Racecourse this summer, and we’ve teamed up with Ayr to offer you a pair of tickets for your chance to be there!

PIXIE Lott’s appearance at the STV Appeal Racenight at Ayr Racecourse on Friday June 22 looks likely to ensure the charity night is one of the most successful ever at the track.

In previous years when the fixture was Saints and Sinners Racenight it attracted stars like Alexandra Burke, Stacey Solomon and Bjorn Again to Ayr so Pixie is certainly following in famous footsteps.

Ayr Racecourse Sales and Marketing Manager Lindsey Smith said : “We promised that our June charity Racenight would carry on in its previous tradition of securing a big name act to entertain the crowd and we feel Pixie Lott will fit the bill in that respect.

“She has already had three number ones and performs to sell out audiences all over the world.

“The STV Appeal Racenight is in aid of childrens charities and we aim to raise as much money as possible with what we feel is a surefire winner – a mix of racing and top quality music.”

In addition to Pixie’s appearance the Racenight is expected to attract a host of Scottish celebrities including television stars and footballers.
